Sonam Wangchuk Protest: On Wednesday, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk shared an update on his health and responded to those urging him to end his hunger strike.
Wangchuk said he feels alright and his medical tests show he can continue for a few more days. In a video, he said, “My condition is not so bad that I would die in 2-4 days.”
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court is set to hear a petition asking that Wangchuk be taken to a hospital and given food, even if he does not agree.

Sonam Wangchuk Protest: Activist Health Stable, Vows to Continue Hunger Strike
Thursday was the 19th day of his hunger strike. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has joined the protest with a mass hunger strike today.
Wangchuk, who plans to continue fasting, said on Wednesday that he will not stop, as ending his fast might lead the government to think the protests are over.
In a video message, he said he is losing muscle, but his heart and main organs are still healthy.
He also said his medical reports are good and he will continue fasting. He asked his supporters to join a peaceful march to Parliament on July 20 instead of urging him to end his fast.
He admitted his health is not perfect but said he is not doing too badly.
He encouraged people to join the July 20 march and called for a one-day mass hunger strike on July 16 to support him and students across India.
Sonam Wangchuk Health Update
Doctors said in their latest update that Wangchuk is still "very weak" and is being closely monitored.
His weight is now 57.15 kg, which is 400 grams less than yesterday and 8.9 kg less than when he started his hunger strike.
Doctors reported his blood pressure is 105/76 mmHg, his blood sugar is 80 mg/dL, his oxygen level is 97 per cent, and his hydration is fair.
CJP Mass Hunger Strike: Political Support Grows for Sonam Wangchuk as Hunger Strike Enters Day 19
Sonam Wangchuk Protest: As the strike reached its 19th day on Thursday, leaders from several political parties continued to show support.
Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bharadwaj announced that he would be at Jantar Mantar at 4 pm to back Wangchuk and the Cockroach Janta Party.
In a post on X, he said that while people enjoy air conditioning, they should come to Jantar Mantar to show support.
He encouraged others to join him in honouring the "real hero," Sonam Wangchuk, who has been fasting for 18 days.
He also said he would be there tomorrow, July 16, 2026, at 4 PM, and invited everyone to join.
Protest at Jantar Mantar: Kejriwal to Support Wangchuk Protest; Tharoor Urges Modi Govt to Hold Talks
Sonam Wangchuk Protest: Chief Arvind Kejriwal will also visit the protest site at 5 pm to support Wangchuk and CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke.
Other leaders urged Wangchuk to end his fast as his health worsened.
Leader Shashi Tharoor also supported the protesting students and Wangchuk, saying he understands how important fair exams and merit are.
He promised that the Opposition will raise students’ issues in Parliament on Monday, when the monsoon session begins.
He also urged the Modi government to speak with Wangchuk and begin discussions.
TMC chief Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday that she spoke with Sonam Wangchuk.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke posted on X on Tuesday that Mamata encouraged Sonam to stay strong and showed her support for CJP's movement for student justice.

Sonam Wangchuk Latest Update: Delhi High Court will hear a plea today seeking the urgent hospitalisation of Sonam Wangchuk. He has been on a hunger strike for 19 days.
Advocate Rakesh Kumar Saini filed the plea, asking the Centre and Delhi government to move Wangchuk to a government hospital, provide him with medical care, and, if necessary, force-feed him a liquid diet to save his life.
The plea comes as more people worry about Wangchuk’s health, and many are urging him to end his hunger strike.
On Tuesday, the party said that 1.5 lakh people have confirmed they will join the Parliament march on July 20.
The group, led by Abhijit Dipke, also asked others to register by giving a missed call on 70116 70115.

Sonam Wangchuk Protest: More people showed their support for Sonam Wangchuk on Thursday as his hunger strike reached Day 19.
The CJP shared videos from Marathi actor Sayaji Shinde and music composer Vishal Dadlani.
In his video message, Dadlani also supported Sonam Wangchuk and said he was sorry he could not join the protest at Jantar Mantar because he was on a US tour.
On Day 18, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk shared a video message from Jantar Mantar, where he is on a hunger strike. On Day 18, he said his condition was “not so good but not so bad either”.

Sonam Wangchuk Protest: Wangchuk explained why he is continuing his hunger strike. He said stopping now would tell the government there is no need to address the issue.
He also said his health is not so bad that he would die in the next two to four days.
Content creators Ashish Chanchlani and Bhuvan Bam have shown their support for Sonam Wangchuk during his hunger strike.
Bhuvan Bam said that talking can solve everything and hoped someone would listen.
He shared Wangchuk's photo on Instagram Story and said that dialogue was the solution to every problem, expressing hope that someone would listen.
Influencer Ashish Chanchlani also called for discussions, saying the climate activist was going through a tough time.
